Juvi & Juri: Twin model of a small predatory dinosaur

Juravenator is a small theropod of uncertain relationship. In any case, the fossil is unique and could reasonably be considered the best-preserved predatory dinosaur of Europe. Little has remained of the original covering with protofeathers. On the other hand, the specimen shows a range of scale types. That these had a sensory function in the water may go somewhat beyond the actual record. Anyway, the decision was made to build the model with dense plumage, as the reduced filamentous covering assumed in the scientific literature does not represent a plausible function for such a young animal. The green coloration is possible, just unusual for our habituation to the fur colors of predominantly color-blind mammals. So, the coloring here is based on a character that guides visitors through the exhibition in the Altmühltal Nature Park Information Center. From there, one of the models looks towards Willibald's Castle and thus refers to its twin in a different posture and to the original fossil in the Jura Museum.
