Pantelosaurus replication
After the successful restoration of the historic and unique fossil slab with six skeletons of Pantelosaurus saxonicus, the table-sized fossil was 3D scanned. The data was used to generate printed parts which, although not a puzzle, were a laborious task to put together. Fitting the individual pieces, retouching the gaps and creating a stable bond on the underside not only took a lot of time, but also caused a lot of resin dust. The result was two virtually identical replicas of the fossil, much lighter but still not unbreakable.
